Kenya was not disqualified from the Tokyo Marathon. In fact, Kenyan athletes have achieved significant success in marathon events held in Tokyo.
For instance, on September 14, 2025, Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya won the women's marathon at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, finishing with a time of 2:24:43.
However, there have been instances where Kenyan athletes faced disqualifications or suspensions in various competitions due to doping violations. For example, Sarah Chepchirchir, the 2017 Tokyo Marathon winner, received an eight-year ban after testing positive for testosterone in a sample collected at a marathon in Thailand in November 2023.
Additionally, during the Tokyo Olympics, Kenyan sprinter Mark Otieno Odhiambo was provisionally suspended for failing a drugs test, which led to his disqualification from the men's 100m event.
It's important to note that these disqualifications were individual cases and did not involve the entire Kenyan team being disqualified from the Tokyo Marathon. Follow our official Facebook page for more updates https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550027565895
